Women physicians are often quick to recognize burnout in others — but when fatigue, brain fog, sleep disruption, mood changes, migraine, or chronic pain show up in our own lives, the picture can be more complex. This physician-led panel will explore the overlapping biologic, neurologic, hormonal, and pain-related drivers that can be mistaken for “just burnout,” with special attention to perimenopause, menopause, migraine, fibromyalgia, and fragmented care. Moving beyond generic wellness, the discussion will offer multidisciplinary, evidence-informed strategies for maintaining cognitive performance, resilience, and function, while helping physicians better recognize symptom overlap, advocate for appropriate care, and apply integrated approaches for themselves and the patients they serve.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
|
- Improve recognition of how hormonal transitions influence neurologic function, sleep, cognition, and pain.
- Differentiate symptoms of burnout from those related to perimenopause and menopause, neurologic conditions, and chronic pain syndromes.
- Understand current evidence, regulatory considerations, and limitations related to hormone therapy, including appropriate use, risks, benefits, and access challenges.
- Increase confidence in navigating care pathways that may involve multiple specialties, and in coordinating or advocating for comprehensive care.
- Apply practical, evidence-based strategies for management that are realistic within the constraints of clinical practice.
- Enhance interdisciplinary understanding across obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, and pain management to support more cohesive care delivery.
