Physician burnout has become a hot topic in health care, for good reason. Several studies show that at least half of physicians report symptoms of burnout. Data also shows that physician burnout correlates with patient outcomes, professionalism, patient satisfaction, as well as has a negative effect on physician families.
Our medical community in the Pikes Peak Region has recognized the toll physician burnout places on individuals. Our community is fortunate to have a local physician to start a Physician Burnout Support Group! Details on this group can be seen below.
With all of the negative impacts physician burnout can have on those involved, it is important to acknowledge the problem and work on combatting the problem together.
